in whom also we were chosen, having been predestined according to the purpose of the One who works all [things] according to the counsel of his will,
Understand [this], my dear brothers: every person must be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,
He who is slow to anger [is] better than him who is mighty, and he who controls his spirit than him who captures a city.
[He who is] slow to anger [has] great understanding, but the hasty of spirit exalts folly.
The understanding of a person makes him slow to his {anger}, and his glory overlooks offense.
A soft answer will turn away wrath, but a word of trouble will stir {anger}.
Refrain from anger and forsake wrath. Do not fret; [it] only brings evil.
He who is short of {temper} will act foolishly, and the man who schemes will be hated.
But now you also lay aside all [these] things: anger, rage, wickedness, slander, abusive language from your mouth.
Understand [this], my dear brothers: every person must be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for human anger does not accomplish the righteousness of God.
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger, nor give place to the devil.
But I say to you that everyone who is angry at his brother will be subject to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, 'Stupid fool!' will be subject to the council, and whoever says, 'Obstinate fool!' will be subject to fiery hell.
A man who is hot-tempered will stir up strife, but he who is slow [to] {anger}, he will calm contention.
For from him and through him and to him [are] all [things]. To him [be] glory for eternity! Amen.
and receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the stratagems of the devil,
And he said to them, "But now the one who has a money bag must take [it], and likewise a traveler's bag. And the one who does not have a sword must sell his cloak and buy [one].
Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place! For all who take up the sword will die by the sword.
[it] does not behave dishonorably, [it] {is not selfish}, [it] does not become angry, [it] does not keep a record of wrongs,
I am able [to do] all [things] by the one who strengthens me.
They refused to listen and did not remember your wonders that you did among them. They stiffened their neck and in their rebellion {determined} to return to their slavery. But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and compassionate, {slow to anger}, abundant in loyal love, so you did not abandon them.
Sing praises to Yahweh, you his faithful ones, and give thanks {to his holy fame}. For [there is] a moment in his anger; [there is] a lifetime in his favor. Weeping lodges for the evening, but in the morning [comes] rejoicing.
Do not befriend an owner of {anger}, and with a man of wrath you shall not associate; lest you learn his way and become entangled in a snare to yourself.
All bitterness, and rage, and wrath, and clamor, and abusive speech, must be removed from you, together with all wickedness. Become kind toward one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as also God in Christ has forgiven you.
Pay back no one evil for evil. Take thought for [what is] good in the sight of all people. If [it is] possible on your [part], be at peace with all people. Do not take revenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to [God's] wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance [is] mine, I will repay," says the Lord.read more.
But "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him [something] to drink; for [by] doing this, you will heap up coals of fire upon his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Therefore [in] all [things], whatever you want that people should do to you, thus also you do to them. For this is the law and the prophets.
And those who served in the army were also asking him, saying, "What should we also do?" And he said to them, "Extort from no one, and do not blackmail [anyone], and be content with your pay."
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor' and 'Hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven, because he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust.read more.
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not the tax collectors also do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing that is remarkable? Do not the Gentiles also do the same? Therefore you be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
