So keep on watching, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the master of the house had known in exactly what part of the night the thief would come, he would have been on guard and would not have let his house be broken into.

And the thoughtless ones said to the thoughtful ones, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' But the thoughtful ones answered, 'No, no, there may not be enough for you and us. Go to the store and buy your own oil.' And while they were going to buy it, the bridegroom came, and the bridesmaids that were ready went in with him to the wedding reception; and the door was closed. At last the rest of the bridesmaids came, and kept begging, 'Master, master, open the door for us!' But he answered, 'I positively say to you, I do not know you.' So you must keep on watching, for you do not know either the day or the hour.
Keep looking, keep alert, for you do not know when the time will be. It will be like a man who leaves his home and goes on a journey, after he has given orders to his slaves, to each his particular task, and has given orders to the watchman to keep watch. Whether he comes before or after midnight, if he finds them so, happy are they.
But ever be watching and always praying, so that you may have strength to escape all this that is going to take place, and so you may take your stand in the presence of the Son of Man."
Do this in particular because you know the present crisis, that it is high time for you to wake up out of your sleep, for our salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.
Be always on your guard; stand firm in your faith; keep on acting like men; continue to grow in strength;
You must persevere in prayer and by this means stay wide awake when you give thanks.
So let us stop sleeping as others do, but let us stay awake and keep sober.
Constantly remind people to submit to and obey the rulers who have authority over them, so as to be ready for any good enterprise,
But the end of everything on earth is near. So be serious and sober minded, that you may give yourselves to prayer.
Be calm and alert. Your opponent the devil is always prowling about like a roaring lion, trying to devour you.
So remember what you have received and heard, and continue to obey it, and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will never know the hour when I come upon you.
I am now standing at the door and knocking. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door, I will be his guest and feast with him, and he with me.
