But when thou makest a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind; and thou shalt be happy; because they have not wherewith to requite thee: for a recompense shall be given thee at the resurrection of the just.

and my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected me for it; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, bowels of mercy, benignity, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

Only desiring that we would remember the poor: which I also was forward to do.

What is the advantage, my brethren, if any one say that he has faith, and he hath not works, can faith alone save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food; and one of you say to them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and be ye filled: but ye give them not the necessaries of life, what profit is it to them?read more.

For if I speak with the tongues of men and angels, and have not charity, I am but as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Then will they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee famishing, or a-thirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not relieve thee? Then will He reply to them, saying, Verily I tell you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the lest of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life everlasting.

For all the law is fulfilled in one precept, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them in like manner.
