If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? and if the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now God hath placed the members, every one of them in the body, as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where were the body? whereas now there are many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. But those parts of the body, which seem to be weaker, are much more necessary: and those which we judge the less honorable parts we clothe with more abundant honor; and so our less comely parts have more comeliness added to them, of which our comely ones have no need. But God hath so blended the several parts of the body, giving greater honor to that which was deficient, that there might be no schism in the body; but that all the members might have the same care one for another. And so if one member suffer all the members suffer with it; and if one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and his members each of you in particular.
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; ---as I have loved you, that ye also love one another: for by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have mutual love to each other.
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any one has a complaint against any: even as Christ hath forgiven you, so also do ye. And above all these put on love, which is the band of perfection.
Having therefore purified your souls by obedience to the truth, through the Spirit, to brotherly love unfeigned, love one another with a pure heart fervently:
be tenderly affected with brotherly love to each other, in honor preferring one another:
Owe no one any thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth others hath fulfilled the law:

Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up what is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
so we, being affectionately desirous of you, were willing to impart to you, not only the gospel of God, but even our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
And we entreat you, brethren, to respect those that labour among you, and preside over you in the Lord, and instruct you; and to esteem them very highly in love, on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
It is certain, if any one is desirous of the episcopal office, he desireth a good work.
Be ruled by those that are your guides, and submit to them: for they watch for your souls; (as those that must give an account) that they may do it with joy and not with uneasiness: for this were unprofitable for you.
The elders that are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker of the glory which shall be revealed; feed the flock of God that is among you, taking the episcopal charge of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with a ready mind: nor as lording it over the people, but being examples to the flock.
