For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

In which I suffer trouble, as an evil-doer, even to bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, and, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

Thus saith the LORD, The labor of Egypt, and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down to thee, they shall make supplication to thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is none else, there is no God.

And if they are bound in fetters, and are held in cords of affliction; Then he showeth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.
