Marriage is every where honourable, and that state is innocent: but the licentious and adulterers God will punish.
But fornication, and all impurity, or inordinate desire, let it not be approved by you, as being unworthy of christians: neither ribaldry,
flee licentiousness. no other sin that a man commits does affect the church as a body: but the licentious commits a fraud against the whole body to which he belongs.
I answer, with regard to the licentious, it is best for a man, to have his wife; and for a woman to have her husband.
Know you not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? be not deceived: neither the licentious, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor the brutal, nor thieves, nor misers, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor raparees, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
and I tell you, that whoever shall put away his wife, except it be for adultery, and shall marry another, he committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her that is put away, causeth her to commit adultery.
and such is the will of God, that you should be holy, and avoid licentiousness; that every one of you should take care to preserve the dignity of his person unsullied by the vices of the Gentiles, who know not God:read more.
that no man should be exorbitant, and behave contumeliously to his brother: because the Lord is the avenger of all such crimes, as we have formerly remonstrated to you.
now the effects of vicious passions are manifestly these, fornication, uncleanness, brutality, idolatry, poisoning, enmities, quarrels, emulations, animosities, strife, seditions, factions, envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like, concerning which I forewarn you now, as heretofore I have done, that they who practise such vices, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
As to the unmarried and widows, I say, it is best for them to continue so, as I do. but if they have not the gift, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to be in pain.
The wife is bound as long as her husband lives: but if her husbnd be dead, she is at liberty to be married, if she pleases; provided it be to a christian.
be not deceived, God will not be mocked: for what a man soweth, that shall he also reap: he that soweth to his vices, shall reap the deadly fruit of his vices; but he that sows to the spirit, shall of the spirit reap everlasting life.
