18 Bible Verses about Compassion, Of Christ

Come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Whence it was right for him to be in all respects made like to his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful highpriest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not.

And Jesus having called his disciples to him, said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they have remained with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am not willing to send them away fasting, lest they faint on the road.

And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

And when evening came, they brought to him many that were possessed by demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, "He himself took our infirmities, and bore our diseases."

And seeing the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered about, as sheep having no shepherd.

And when he came forth he saw a great multitude; and he was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

(...) What think ye? if a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them hath gone astray, doth he not leave the ninetynine upon the mountains, and go and seek that which hath gone astray? And if it happen that he find it, truly do I say to you, he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninetynine that did not go astray.

Then Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and they immediately received sight, and followed him.

But some of them said, Could not he, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have also caused that this man should not have died? Jesus therefore, again greatly moved within himself, cometh to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he. If therefore ye are seeking me, let these men go. That the saying might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom thou hast given me, I have lost none."

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

For we have not a highpriest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who hath in all points been tempted as we are, without sin.
