Then Herod, when he saw that he was baffled by the wise-men, was very much enraged; and he sent and slew all the male-children in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly inquired of the wise-men.

and cast him out of the city and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul.

And the scribes and pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery; and setting her in the midst, they said to Him, "This woman was caught in the very act, committing adultery.

It is commonly reported that there is lewdness among you, and such lewdness as is not named even amongst the heathens, that one should have his father's wife.

He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the common purse he carried what was put into it.

Now the chief priests and elders, and the whole council sought false-witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death: but found none. And tho' many false witnesses came, they found none to their purpose. But at last came two false witnesses and said,

Now the chief priests and all the council sought for evidence against Jesus, to put Him to death, and found none: for many bare false witness against Him, and the evidences did not agree.

and they set up false witnesses; who said, This man is continually speaking blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law.

And when he was come, the Jews that came down from Jerusalem, stood round about, bringing many heavy charges against Paul, which they were not able to prove:
