But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people, and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity, the sea and the waves roring:

These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have trouble: but be of good courage, I have overcome the world.

confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.

And not only so, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation worketh patience,

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rejoicing in hope, patient under affliction, persevering in prayer,

I think then, that it is---better on account of the present distress,---that it is better, I say,

I use much freedom of speech to you, and I boast much of you: I am filled with comfort, and superabound in joy above all our affliction.

by this we were comforted in you, my brethren, under all our affliction and distress, because of your faith:
