Therefore having laid aside all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all calumniations;
For many are incorrigible, speaking vain things and egotistical, especially those from the circumcision, whose mouths it is necessary to stop; who overturn whole families, teaching those things which it does not behoove, for the sake of disgraceful gain.
to speak evil of no one, that they should be peaceable, gentle, showing all meekness to all men.
But if any one seems to be religious, bridling not his own tongue, but deceiving his own heart, the religion of that man is vain.
so also the tongue is a little member, and it boasts great things. Behold, how great a wood a little fire kindles! but no one of men is able to tame the tongue; an incorrigible evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord, even the Father; and with it we scold the people, who have been made after the image of God: out of the same mouth come forth blessing and scolding. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Do not calumniate one another, brethren: the one speaking against his brother, and judging his brother, speaks against the law, and judges the law: if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? He not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor catamites, nor Sodomites, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor scolds, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips.
Therefore, having laid aside lying, speak the truth each one with his neighbors: because we are members of one another.
Let no corrupt communication go forth out of your mouth, but if anything is good unto edification of need, in order that he may give grace to those who hear. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and blasphemy, depart from you, with all evil.
