And they brought to Him a man who was deaf and almost dumb, and they begged Him to lay His hand upon him. So He took him off from the crowd by himself and put His fingers in his ears and touched his tongue with saliva. And his ears were opened and his tongue was untied, and he began to speak distinctly.

They were asking this to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped and began to write in the dirt with his finger.

So the rest of the disciples kept saying to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail prints in His hands, and put my finger into them, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe it!"

Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and look at my hands, and take your hand and put it in my side, and stop being an unbeliever, but be a believer!"

They tie up heavy burdens and fasten them on men's shoulders, but they refuse to lift a finger to help bear them.

He said, "Yes, a curse on you experts in the law, too, because you load people down with loads too heavy to carry, and yet you do not touch the loads yourselves with one of your fingers!
