When they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying: Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there till I bring you word; for Herod is about to seek for the young child, to destroy him.

When, therefore, you see that detestable thing that makes desolate, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let him that reads understand;) then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let not him that is on the house-top come down to take his goods out of his house;read more.
and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his clothing. But alas for those who are with child, and those who give suck in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath:

Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let those who are in the midst of it, withdraw from it. Let those who are in the count try, not come within it. For these are the days of vengeance, that all things that are written may be fulfilled. But alas for them that are with child, and for them that give suck in those days! for there shall be great distress upon the land, and wrath upon this people.
