2 Corinthians 8:7-9

But as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and all earnestness, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this exercise of liberality also. I speak not by way of command, but by reason of the earnestness of others, and to prove the genuineness of your love. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

1 John 3:16-18

Herein we know love, in that he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Acts 4:32-37
