But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
From one man he made every nation of the human race to inhabit the entire earth, determining their set times and the fixed limits of the places where they would live,
He sees there is no advocate; he is shocked that no one intervenes. So he takes matters into his own hands; his desire for justice drives him on.
You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations.
And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

"Why do you ask my name?" the man replied. Then he blessed Jacob there. So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining, "Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived." The sun rose over him as he crossed over Penuel, but he was limping because of his hip.
