Our lives last seventy years
or, if we are strong, eighty years.
Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow;
indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.

Barzillai replied to the king, “How many years of my life are left that I should go up to Jerusalem with the king? I’m now 80 years old. Can I discern what is pleasant and what is not? You made summer and winter.

Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began.
