So the Lord God formed out of the ground every wild animal and every bird of the sky, and brought each to the man to see what he would call it. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.

How countless are Your works, Lord!
In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your creatures.

Then God said, “Let the water swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water, according to their kinds. He also created every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Evening came and then morning: the fifth day. Then God said, “Let the earth produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that crawl, and the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. So God made the wildlife of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and creatures that crawl on the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

All eyes look to You,
and You give them their food at the proper time.
You open Your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?

Consider the ravens: They don’t sow or reap; they don’t have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than the birds?

You may take the young for yourself, but be sure to let the mother go free, so that you may prosper and live long.

He causes the springs to gush into the valleys;
they flow between the mountains.
They supply water for every wild beast;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside the springs;
they sing among the foliage.

He gives food to every creature.
        His love is eternal.

He provides the animals with their food,

The fear and terror of you will be in every living creature on the earth, every bird of the sky, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are placed under your authority.

And Noah did this. He did everything that God had commanded him.

Every living creature will be food for you; as I gave the green plants, I have given you everything. However, you must not eat meat with its lifeblood in it.

But don’t eat the blood, since the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat. Do not eat blood; pour it on the ground like water. Do not eat it, so that you and your children after you will prosper, because you will be doing what is right in the Lord’s sight.

You are to take with you seven pairs, a male and its female, of all the clean animals, and two of the animals that are not clean, a male and its female, and seven pairs, male and female, of the birds of the sky—in order to keep offspring alive on the face of the whole earth.

in order to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between the animals that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.”

And Abel also presented an offering—some of the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions. The Lord had regard for Abel and his offering,

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord. He took some of every kind of clean animal and every kind of clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have appointed it to you to make atonement on the altar for your lives, since it is the lifeblood that makes atonement.

According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
all sea monsters and ocean depths,

Let everything that breathes praise the Lord.
