But the churl will be churlishly minded, and his heart will work evil and play the hypocrite, and imagine abominations against God, to make the hungry lean, and withhold drink from the thirsty.

Then answered him the Lord and said, "Hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the Sabbath day, loose his ox, or his ass, from the stall, and lead him to the water?

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem, saying, "Why do thy disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? For they wash not their hands, when they eat bread." He answered, and said unto them, "Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God, through your traditions?

Woe be to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye which tithe mint, anise, and cumin, and leave the weightier matters of the law undone: judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.

And the Lord said to him, "Now do ye, O Pharisees, make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter: but your inward parts are full of ravening and wickedness.

an informer of them which lack discretion, a teacher of the unlearned, which hast the example of that which ought to be known, and of the truth in the law. But thou which teachest another, teachest not thyself. Thou preachest, a man should not steal: and yet thou stealest. Thou sayest, a man should not commit adultery: and thou breakest wedlock. Thou abhorrest images: and robbest God of his honour. Thou rejoicest in the law: and through breaking the law dishonourest God.

'This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouths, and honoureth me with their lips, howbeit their hearts are far from me:

We praise not ourselves again unto you, but give you an occasion to rejoice of us, that ye may have somewhat against them, which rejoice in the face, and not in the heart.

Trust not in false lying words, saying, 'Here is the temple of the LORD, here is the temple of the LORD, here is the temple of the LORD.'

And see that you think not to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father': for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

For me they seek day by day; and will know my ways, as a people that doth righteousness, and hath not forsaken the equity of their God.

Woe be unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye which compass sea and land, to bring one into your belief: and when he is brought, ye make him twofold more the child of hell, than ye yourselves are.

Woe be unto you, scribes and Pharisees, for ye devour widows' houses: and that, under a colour of praying long prayers, wherefore ye shall receive greater damnation.

and love to sit uppermost at feasts, and to have the chief seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, 'Rabbi.'
