Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I do not run aimlessly. I do not box as a man beating the air. But I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; be infants in evil, but in thinking be mature.

Share in hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service gets entangled in civilian affairs, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.
