1 Kings 9:26-28

King Solomon also built a fleet of ships at Eziongeber. This is near Elath on the shore of the Gulf of Aqaba, in the land of Edom. King Hiram sent experienced sailors from his fleet to serve with Solomon's men. They sailed to the land of Ophir and brought back to Solomon about sixteen tons of gold.

2 Chronicles 8:17-18

There they procured thirty three thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds of gold, and brought it to King Solomon.

Never again was sandalwood like this imported into Israel, nor has any been seen there to this day.

2 Chronicles 9:10-11

Huram's servants and Solomon's servants who brought gold from Ophir also brought sandalwood and precious stones. With the sandalwood the king made gateways to Jehovah's Temple and the royal palace. They also made lyres and harps for the singers. No one had ever seen anything like them in Judah.

King Jehoshaphat had ocean-going ships built to sail to the land of Ophir for gold. They were wrecked at Eziongeber and never sailed.
