But others were mocking and said, "They are full of sweet wine."

Now when they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, "We want to hear you again on this subject."

And as he was saying this in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice, "Paul, you are out of your mind! Your great learning is driving you mad."

Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day."

They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And he took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was to happen to him. "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and deliver him to the Gentiles; and they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him. And after three days he will rise."

Then he took the twelve aside and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. They will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise again."

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists; and others slapped him, saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck you?"

Then some began to spit on him, and to blindfold him, and to beat him, and to say to him, "Prophesy!" And the guards received him with slaps in the face.

Now the men who were holding Jesus mocked him and beat him. They blindfolded him and asked him, "Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?" And they spoke many other things against him, blaspheming.

And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him; then, dressing him in a gorgeous robe, he sent him back to Pilate.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around him. And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and when they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand. And they bowed the knee before him and mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"read more.
And they spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head. And when they had mocked him, they took the robe off him, put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

The soldiers led him away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and they called together the whole battalion. And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and they twisted a crown of thorns and put it on him. And they began to salute him, "Hail, King of the Jews!"read more.
Then they struck him on the head with a reed and spat on him; and falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. And when they had mocked him, they took the purple robe off him, and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.

So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"read more.
And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

So also the chief priests mocked him among themselves with the scribes, and said, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those who were crucified with him also reviled him.

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him wine vinegar,

and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself."

Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
