And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some laughed at it: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this matter.

And as he was saying these things in his defence, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself: much learning turns thy brain.

And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, Behold we are going up to Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, and deliver Him up to the gentiles, to insult, and to scourge, and to crucify Him. But on the third day He shall rise again.

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed at it, and afraid to follow Him. And again taking the twelve aside, He began to tell them what things should befal Him, saying, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will insult Him, and scourge Him, and spit upon Him, and put Him to death: but on the third day He shall rise again.

And He took the twelve with Him and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and insulted, and abused, and spit upon, and they will scourge Him, and put Him to death: and the third day He shall rise again.

Then did they spit in his face, and beat Him about the head; and some struck Him with rods, saying, Divine to us, thou Christ, who it is that smote thee.

And they spit upon Him, and blind-folded Him, and then buffeted Him and said to Him, prophesy who it was: and the officers struck him with their rods.

And the men that laid hold on Jesus, insulted and abused Him; and when they had blind-folded Him, they struck Him on the face, and asked Him, saying, Prophesy who it was that smote thee. And many other things spake they against Him, blaspheming Him.

But Herod with his soldiers set Him at nought and insulted Him, and put on Him a gaudy robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the hall, and gathered the whole band about Him: and when they had stript Him, they covered Him with a scarlet robe; and having platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they bowed the knee before Him in derision, saying, Hail king of the Jews:read more.
and they spit upon Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. And after they had thus abused Him, they took off the scarlet robe from Him, and put on Him his own clothes, and led Him away to be crucified.

And the soldiers led Him away into the hall, which is called the Pretorium; and gathered their whole company together: and they clad Him in purple, and platted a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and saluted Him, saying, Hail king of the Jews;read more.
and struck Him on the head with a reed, and spit upon Him, and bowed their knees, and did Him homage. And when they had thus abused Him, they took off the purple from Him, and put his own clothes on Him, and brought Him out to crucify Him.

And in like manner the chief priests also insulting Him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others, himself He cannot save: if He be the king of Israel, let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe Him: He trusted in God, let Him deliver Him now, if He will own Him; for He said, I am the Son of God.read more.
And one of the thieves also, that were crucified with Him, cast the same reproach upon Him.

And the chief priests likewise scoffing at Him among themselves, with the scribes, said, He saved others, Himself He cannot save: let Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe in Him. And even they that were crucified with Him, reviled Him.

And the people stood looking on, and even the rulers also with them derided Him, saying, He saved others, let Him save Himself, if He be the Christ the chosen of God.

And the soldiers too insulted Him, coming to Him and offering Him vinegar, saying,

Be not deceived, God is not to be mocked: for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
