But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this present age,

"Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.' But I say to you, do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.read more.
And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.

Let your speech always be full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,

So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

For the overseer must be blameless as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not violent, not fond of sordid gain, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, master of himself, upright, holy, and self-controlled;

The older men are to be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance. The older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to much wine, but they are to teach what is good, so they can train the young women to love their husbands and children,read more.
to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Likewise urge the young men to be sensible. Show yourself in all respects an example of good deeds, and in your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the Law, justice and mercy and faith. Blind Pharisee! First cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

What is the outcome then, brethren? When you come together, each one has a hymn, or a teaching, or a revelation, or a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn; and one must interpret. But if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.read more.
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. But if a revelation is made to another who is sitting, the first one must keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged; and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot! So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.
