Then saith Jesus to them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, "The stone which the builders refused, is made the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?"

And have ye not read this scripture, "The stone, which the builders refused, is become the head of the corner:

And He looked upon them and said, What then is this, which is written, The stone which the builders refused, is become the head of the corner?

This is the stone that was set at nought by you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise architect I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon: but let every one see to it how he buildeth thereon. For no one can lay any other foundation, but that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ: and if any build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, or wood, hay, stubble;read more.
every man's work shall be made manifest. For the great day will shew it; because it will be discovered by fire, and the fire will prove every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide, which he hath built upon it, he shall receive a reward: but if any man's work be burnt, he will be damaged; though he himself shall be saved, but, as it were out of fire.

For He was accounted worthy of more honor than Moses, as he who hath built it, hath more honor than the house.

To you therefore who believe it is precious: but to them that are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner,

Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

And he staid many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea-side: he shall tell thee what thou must do.

But the centurion answering said, Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst come under my roof, but speak the word, and my servant will be healed: for I also am a man under the authority of others, yet have soldiers under me; and I say to one, go, and he goeth; and to another, come, and he cometh; and to my servant, do this, and he doth it. And when Jesus heard it He marvelled, and said to them that followed Him, Verily, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith even in Israel: but I tell you, that many shall come from the east and from the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven; and the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness; where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and be it unto thee as thou hast believed. And his servant was healed in that very hour.

Now when He had finished his discourse in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum: and a certain centurion's servant, whom he had a great value for, was ill and ready to die; and having heard of Jesus, he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that He would come and heal his servant.read more.
And when they came to Jesus, they intreated Him earnestly, saying, he is worthy of this favor: for he loveth our nation, and hath built us a synagogue. So Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to Him, saying Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: neither did I think myself worthy to come unto thee. But speak the word, and my servant will be recovered. For I also am a man placed under the authority of others, and have soldiers under me; and I say to one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doth it. And when Jesus heard these things, He marvelled, and turning about, said to the multitude that followed Him, I declare unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel. And when they that were sent, returned to the house, they found the servant well, that had been sick.

And the soldiers also asked him, saying, And what shall we do? and He said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your pay.

Now there was a certain man at Cesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band: a pious man, and one that feared God, with all his house; giving also much alms to the people, and praying to God continually. He evidently saw in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius!read more.
and he looking earnestly at him, and being afraid, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up as a memorial before God. As soon as the angel, that spake to Cornelius, was departed, he called two of his domestic servants, and a devout soldier, that constantly attended him. And when he had related all to them, he sent them to Joppa.

Do thou therefore endure hardship, as becomes a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one, that enters into military service, embarrasseth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him.

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place, went and looked at him, and then crossed the way and passed by.

Verily, verily I say unto you, He that entreth not into the sheep-fold by the door, but climbeth up some other way, is a thief and a robber. But he that cometh in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice; and He calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

And there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night: and lo, an angel of the Lord stood over them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them, and they were greatly terrified: and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people,read more.
that this day is born, in the city of David, your Saviour Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign to you, Ye shall find the child wrapped in swaddling bands lying in a manger. But he that cometh in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice; and He calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he bringeth forth his sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him; because they know his voice.

saying, "Behold a sower went out to sow; and as he was sowing, some seeds fell by the way-side, and the birds came and ate them up: some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth; and they soon sprung up indeed, because they had no depth of earth;read more.
but when the sun rose, they were burnt up, and withered; because they had no root: and others fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them: but others fell on good ground, and yielded fruit, some an hundred-fold, some sixty, and some thirty. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Hear another parable, There was a certain man, a master of a family, that planted a vineyard, and made a fence about it, and put a wine-press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and travelled abroad.

The husbandman must labour first, in order to partake of the fruits.

Wait patiently therefore, my brethren, till the coming of the Lord: behold the husbandman expecteth the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it, till he receive the former and the latter rain.

which, when it was full, they dragged to the shore, and sat down and gathered the good into vessels, and threw out the bad.
