We love Him, because He first loved us. If any one say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for how can he, that loveth not his brother, whom he hath seen, love God whom he hath not seen? And we have this commandment from Him, that he, who loveth God, should love his brother also.
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one, that loveth Him that begat, loveth Him also that is begotten of Him: and in this we know that we love the children of God, since we love God and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.
