And he being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment, of spikenard, very costly; and shaking the box, she poured it on his head.

Thou didst not anoint my head with oil: but she hath anointed my feet with ointment.
For in pouring this ointment on my body, she hath done it for my burial.
Then Jesus said, Let her alone; against the day of my burial hath she kept this.
And when the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Salome, had bought spices, that they might come and embalm him.
And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they had prepared and certain others with them.
And Nicodemus also came (who at first had come to Jesus by night) bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pounds. So they took the body of Jesus, and wrapped it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
But his disciples seeing it, had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
But there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence and given to the poor. And they murmured at her.
faith, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
was moved with tender compassion, And going to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
