In him through whom we also have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him that worketh all things after the counsel of his own will,

did not receive the promise, God having provided some better thing for us, that they might not be perfected without us.

And having met together with the elders and taken counsel, they gave large mony to the soldiers, Saying, Say his disciples came by night, and stole him while we slept.

Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that I have often purposed to come to you, (though I have been hindred hitherto) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the other Gentiles.

for I hope to see you as I pass by, and to be brought forward by you in my way thither, if first I may be somewhat satisfied with your company.

And in this confidence I was minded to come to you before, that ye might have had a second benefit, And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come to you again from Macedonia, and to be brought forward by you in my way toward Judea. Now when I was thus minded, did I use levity? or the things which I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that there should be with me yea and nay?

Then went the Pharisees and consulted, how to insnare him in his talk.

But the chief priests consulted, how to kill Lazarus also. Because, on his account, many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go to such a city, and continue there a year, and traffick, and get gain: Who know not what shall be on the morrow; for what is your life? It is a vapour that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away: Instead of your saying, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that.
