And He spake also a parable to them, to shew that men ought always to pray, and not to faint: saying, There was a judge in a certain city, who neither feared God, nor regarded man. And there was a widow in that city, who came to him, saying, Do me justice of my adversary.read more.
And he would not for a time: but afterwards he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man, yet because this widow gives me trouble, I will do her justice, least by continually coming she weary me out. And the Lord said, hear what even the unjust judge saith: and will not God do justice for his elect that cry to Him day and night, though He bear long with them. I tell you, He will avenge them speedily. And yet when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith in the land?

And He said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine on his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him: and he from within shall answer and say, Do not be troublesome; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed, I cannot rise to give thee.read more.
I tell you, tho' he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend: yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he wants. And so I tell you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

These all persevered with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brethren.

And they continued stedfast in the apostles doctrine, and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints;

Rejoicing in hope, patient under affliction, persevering in prayer,

Pray continually.

And going away again, the second time He prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass from me, unless I drink it, thy will be done. And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

And He taketh Peter and James and John with Him, and He began to be overwhelmed with terror and anguish.
