praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints;
And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting; for he that doubteth is like a wave of the sea blown about and tossed by the wind.
let us draw near with sincerity, in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Ye worship ye know not what; but we worship what we know: for salvation is from the Jews. But the time is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for the Father requireth such worshippers of Him. God is a spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship in spirit and truth.
What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.
And this is the confidence, which we have towards Him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, He heareth us:
Father, if thou art willing take away this cup from me---nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.
I direct therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without wrath and debate:
God is a spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship in spirit and truth.
Let us therefore come with freedom to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace for our seasonable help.
night and day most ardently praying, that we may see your face, and perfect whatever is wanting in your faith?
Elias was a man of like passions with us, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not upon the land for three years and six months:
I tell you, tho' he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend: yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he wants. And so I tell you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
And He spake also a parable to them, to shew that men ought always to pray, and not to faint: saying, There was a judge in a certain city, who neither feared God, nor regarded man. And there was a widow in that city, who came to him, saying, Do me justice of my adversary.read more.
And he would not for a time: but afterwards he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man, yet because this widow gives me trouble, I will do her justice, least by continually coming she weary me out. And the Lord said, hear what even the unjust judge saith: and will not God do justice for his elect that cry to Him day and night, though He bear long with them.
Now she, that is really a widow and desolate, hopeth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
Be anxious in nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known before God.
