And the men who held Jesus insulted him, beating him with rods; and blindfolding him, smote him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is he that struck thee? And many other things, blaspheming, spake they against him.

Then they spit in his face, and buffeted him about; and some slapt his face with their hands, saying, Prophesy to us, you Messiah, who it is that struck thee!

And some began to spit upon him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants slapped him on the face with their hands.

Then Herod with his guards treated him with contempt, and in derision clothed him in a splendid robe, and sent him back to Pilate.

Thereupon the soldiers of the governor taking Jesus away to the Praetorium, gathered around him the whole band: and stripping him, put about him a scarlet cloak. And platting a crown of thorns, they placed it on his head, and a cane in his right hand: and bowing the knee before him, mocked him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews!read more.
