Ye shall hear of wars, and of the fame of wars, but see that ye be not troubled, for all must come to pass; but the end is not yet.
One mischief and sorrow shall follow another, and one rumor shall come after another: Then shall they seek visions in vain at their Prophets. The law shall be gone from the priests, and wisdom from the elders.
Thou shalt not accept a vain tale, neither shalt put thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And yet Jesus said not to him, he shall not die: but, "If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?"
Be not faint hearted, and fear not at every rumor that shall be heard in the land: for every year bringeth new tidings; yea, strange wickedness and lordship.

But cast away unghostly and old wives' fables. Exercise thyself unto godliness.
A wicked body giveth audience to false lips; and a dissembling person giveth ear to a deceitful tongue.
A froward body causeth strife; and he that is a babble of his tongue, maketh division among princes.
An enemy dissembleth with his lips, and in the mean season he imagineth mischief;
Even so must their wives be honest, not evil speakers: but sober, and faithful in all things.
And also they learn to go from house to house idle, yea not idle only, but also trifling and busybodies, speaking things which are not comely.
But thou, which art the man of God, flee such things. Follow righteousness, godliness, love, patience, and meekness.
And while they were yet in the way, tidings came to David that Absalom had slain all the king's sons, so that none was left alive.
For I will send him a blast that he shall hear tidings, and so return to his own land: And I will overthrow him with the sword even in his own land.'"
Behold, I will raise up a wind against him, and he shall hear a rumor; and as soon as he heareth it, he shall go again into his country. There will I destroy him with the sword.'"
