For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No, but by the law of faith.
But in no wise should I glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he has reason to glory in himself, but not before God. For what does the scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. But unto him that works, the reward is not reckoned as grace, but as debt.
And if by grace, then is it not by works; otherwise, the grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace; otherwise, the work is no longer work.
