Each one speaks vanity with his neighbour: they speak with flattering lips and with a double heart. The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things:

Thus hath the LORD said, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches; but let him that glories glory in this, that he understands me and knows me, that I am the LORD who does mercy, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these things I delight, said the LORD.

The foolish (those who are governed by carnal thoughts or desires) shall not stand in thy sight; thou dost hate all workers of iniquity.

Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

For the LORD, who is high and lifted up, looks upon the humble, but the proud he does not know.

Woe unto those that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!

Hear ye and give ear; do not be proud: for the LORD has spoken. Give glory to the LORD your God before he causes darkness and before your feet stumble in mountains of darkness, and while ye look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death and makes it gross darkness. But if ye will not hear this, my soul shall weep in secret because of your pride; and weeping bitterly, my eyes shall be undone in tears because the LORD's flock was carried away captive.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

For whosoever exalts himself shall be abased, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

Be unanimous among yourselves, not high minded, but accommodating the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

Therefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

Surely he scorns the scorners; but he gives grace unto the humble.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No, but by the law of faith.

And he spoke this parable unto some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
