From now on you must grow stronger through union with the Lord and through His mighty power.

And I will send down upon you what my Father has promised. But you, on your part, must stay right here in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

but you are going to receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you must be witnesses for me in Jerusalem and all over Judea and Samaria, and to the very ends of the earth."

and beg Him to grant you, in accordance with the riches of His perfect character, to be mightily strengthened by His Spirit in your inmost being,

May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and graciously given us encouragement that is eternal, and a hope that is well-founded, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good thing you do or say.

I am always thanking Christ Jesus our Lord who has given me strength for it, for thinking me trustworthy and putting me into the ministry,

For the Spirit that God has given us does not impart timidity but power and love and self-control.

But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that the message preached by me might have its full effect and all the heathen might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's jaws.

So you, my son, must keep renewing your strength in the spiritual blessing that comes through union with Christ Jesus.

And now I commit you to the Lord, and to the message of His favor, which is able to build you up and to give you your proper possession among all God's consecrated people.

But by God's unmerited favor I have become what I am, and His unmerited favor shown to me was not bestowed for nothing, for I have toiled more extensively than any of them, and yet it was not I but God's unmerited favor working with me.

You must stop being carried away with varied and strange teachings. For it is a good thing for the heart to be strengthened by God's spiritual strength, not by special kinds of food, from which those adhering to them have gotten no good.

Then Jesus in the power of the Spirit returned to Galilee, and news of Him spread all over the surrounding country.

for which I was called to serve in accordance with the gift of God's unmerited favor which was bestowed on me by the exercise of His power--

So, to keep me from being over-elated, there was sent upon me a physical disease, sharp as a piercing stake, a messenger of Satan, to continue afflicting me, and so to keep me, I repeat, from being over-elated. So I most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the strength of Christ may overshadow me. That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecution, and difficulties, which I endure for Christ's sake, for it is when I am consciously weak that I am really strong.

Women by a resurrection received their dead again; others endured tortures, because they would not accept release, that they might rise to a better life. so that, as the Scripture says, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

But may it never be mine to boast of anything but the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world!

So we can confidently say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can men do to me?"

Put on my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls,

We never sought praise from men, either from you or from anyone else; although as apostles we could have stood on our official dignity. Instead we were little children among you; we were like a mother nursing her children.
