When Jesus heard him, he marveled, and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.

Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare my supper, and gird yourself and serve me, till I eat and drink; and afterward you shall eat and drink'? So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.'"

Therefore he who resists the authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to have no fear of him who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will have praise from him. For he is God's servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is God's servant, an avenger to execute wrath on the wrongdoer.read more.
Therefore one must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are God's ministers, attending to this very thing. Pay all of them their dues: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject to their husbands in everything. Likewise you that are younger men be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
