And if a man will at all redeem any of his tithes, he shall add to it the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.read more.
He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he changes it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of everyone that is in the census, the money that every man is assessed, and all the money that comes into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD, Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the damages of the house, wherever any damage shall be found.
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

And when they were come, they said unto him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man: for you regard not the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt you me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.read more.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should pretend themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that you say and teach rightly, neither do you regard any person, but teach the way of God truly: Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?read more.

And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Will you then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and you shall have praise of the same:
For so is the will of God, that with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
