Think not that I have come to make the law or the prophets of no effect. I have not come to make them of no effect, but to give them their full efficiency.

And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, he explained to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself.

For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me; for he wrote of me. But if you believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words?

And he said to them: These are the words that I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled that are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

You search the scriptures, because in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify concerning me: and yet you refuse to come to me, that you may have life.

And he rolled up the volume, and save it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all that were in the synagogue were earnestly fixed upon him. And he began to say to them: This scripture which you have heard, is this day fulfilled.

All this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.
