"In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were abandoned, and travelers kept to the byways.

Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him."

O you hope of Israel, its savior in time of trouble, why should you be like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night?

Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife,sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work.

but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.

One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food.

Moreover, there were at my table 150 men, Jews and officials, besides those who came to us from the nations that were around us.

The highways lie waste; the traveler ceases. Covenants are broken; cities are despised; there is no regard for man.
