redeeming the time, because the days are evil. For this reason be not foolish, but understanding what is the will of the Lord.
Whatsoever ye do, labour at it heartily, as doing it to the Lord, and not to men;
How long, sluggard, wilt thou lie down? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest! So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens:
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise: which having no chief, overseer, or ruler, provideth her bread in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
So teach us to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
Walk in wisdom towards those without, redeeming opportunities. Let your word be always with grace, seasoned with salt, so as to know how ye ought to answer each one.
Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him toil, working what is honest with his hands, that he may have to distribute to him that has need.
For the time past is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.
