Any Christian woman who has widowed relatives should look after them, and relieve the church, so that it can look after widows who are really dependent.

To all who are unmarried and to widows, I would say this: It is an excellent thing if they can remain single as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to be on fire with passion.

A religious observance that is pure and stainless in the sight of God the Father is this: to look after orphans and widows in their trouble, and keep one's self unstained by the world.
