'Anointed' in the Bible
For a Saviour who is the Anointed Lord is born to you to-day, in the town of David.
To him it had been revealed by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death until he had seen the Lord's Anointed One.
And while the people were in suspense and all were debating in their minds whether John might possibly be the Anointed One,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor; He has sent me to announce release to the prisoners of war and recovery of sight to the blind: to send away free those whom tyranny has crushed,
"But you," He asked, "who do you say that I am?" "God's Anointed One," replied Peter.
"We have found this man," they said, "an agitator among our nation, forbidding the payment of tribute to Caesar, and claiming to be himself an anointed king."
and the people stood looking on. The Rulers, too, repeatedly uttered their bitter taunts. "This fellow," they said, "saved others: let him save himself, if he is God's Anointed, the Chosen One."
