'Begin' in the Bible
Therefore produce fruit worthy of repentance! And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham [as] father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones!
when once the master of the house has gotten up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock [on] the door, saying, 'Lord, open [the door] for us!' And he will answer [and] say to you, 'I do not know where you are from!'
Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets!'
and the one who invited you {both} will come [and] say to you, 'Give the place to this person,' and then with shame you will begin to take the last place.
{Otherwise} [after] he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish [it], all who see [it] will begin to ridicule him,
But [when] these [things] begin to happen, stand up straight and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near!"
Then they will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us!' and to the hills, 'Cover us!'
