'Chariots' in the Bible
Their land has also been filled with silver and goldAnd there is no end to their treasures;Their land has also been filled with horsesAnd there is no end to their chariots.
“Now look! Here comes a troop of riders, horsemen in pairs.”And one said, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon;And all the carved images of her gods are shattered on the ground.”
Elam took up the quiverWith the chariots, infantry and horsemen;And Kir uncovered the shield.
And it came to pass that your choicest valleys were full of chariots,And the horsemen took their fixed positions [in an offensive array] at the gate [of Jerusalem].
And roll you up tightly like a ballAnd toss you into a vast country;There you will dieAnd there your splendid chariots will be,You shame of your master’s house.’
Woe (judgment is coming) to those who go down to Egypt for help,Who rely on horsesAnd trust in chariots because they are many,And in horsemen because they are very strong,But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord!
How then can you repulse [the attack of] a single commander of the least of my master’s servants, and rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
“Through your servants you have taunted and defied the Lord,And you have said, ‘With my many chariots I have gone up to the heights of the mountains,To the remotest parts of Lebanon.I cut down its tallest cedars and its choicest cypress trees;And I will go to its remotest height, its most luxuriant and thickest forest.
For indeed, the Lord will come in fireAnd His chariots will be like the stormy wind,To render His anger with rage,And His rebuke with flames of fire.
Then they shall bring all your countrymen (children of Israel) from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord—on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules and on camels—to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.
