They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts,“Behold, I will refine them [through suffering] and test them;For how else should I deal with the daughter of My people?

Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

Let's bring charges against him and get rid of him! Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says."

Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

I, the Lord, say: 'That is how I will deal with this city and its citizens. I will make it like Topheth.

But the Lord is with me as a dread champion [one to be greatly feared];Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not overcome [me].They will be completely shamed, for they have not acted wisely and have failed [in their schemes];Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten.

Inquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

“But as for the bad figs, so bad they are inedible, this is what the Lord says: in this way I will deal with king Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and the remnant of Jerusalem—those remaining in this land and those living in the land of Egypt.

“Take him and look after him, and do nothing harmful to him, but rather deal with him just as he tells you.”
