'Long' in the Bible

which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the sacred Scriptures—

Or do you not know, brothers and sisters (for I am speaking to those who know the Law), that the Law has jurisdiction [to rule] over a person as long as he lives?

For the married woman [as an example] is bound and remains bound by law to her husband while he lives; but if her husband dies, she is released and exempt from the law concerning her husband.

Just as it is written and forever remains written,“For Your sake we are put to death all day long;We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.”

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for Israel is for their salvation.

But of Israel he says, “All day long I have stretched out My hands [in compassion] to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

Now to Him who is able to establish and strengthen you [in the faith] according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery [of the plan of salvation] which has been kept secret for long ages past,
