'Propitiation' in the Bible
Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like to his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people;
and he is the propitiation for our sins; but not for ours alone, but also for the whole world.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.
