'Shame' in the Bible

Guard me and deliver me;do not let me be put to shame,for I take refuge in You.

Let those who rejoice at my misfortunebe disgraced and humiliated;let those who exalt themselves over mebe clothed with shame and reproach.

Let those who say to me, “Aha, aha!”be horrified because of their shame.

My disgrace is before me all day long,and shame has covered my face,

Then they will be filled with terror—terror like no other—because God will scatterthe bones of those who besiege you.You will put them to shame,for God has rejected them.

For I have endured insults because of You,and shame has covered my face.

You know the insults I endure—my shame and disgrace.You are aware of all my adversaries.

Let those who say, “Aha, aha!”retreat because of their shame.

Do not let the oppressed turn away in shame;let the poor and needy praise Your name.

He beat back His foes;He gave them lasting shame.

Cover their faces with shameso that they will seek Your name Yahweh.

Let them be put to shame and terrified forever;let them perish in disgrace.

Show me a sign of Your goodness;my enemies will see and be put to shamebecause You, Lord, have helped and comforted me.

You have shortened the days of his youth;You have covered him with shame.Selah

All who serve carved images,those who boast in idols, will be put to shame.All the gods must worship Him.

Though they curse, You will bless.When they rise up, they will be put to shame,but Your servant will rejoice.

My accusers will be clothed with disgrace;they will wear their shame like a cloak.

I cling to Your decrees;Lord, do not put me to shame.

Let the arrogant be put to shamefor slandering me with lies;I will meditate on Your precepts.

May my heart be blameless regarding Your statutesso that I will not be put to shame.

Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them.Such men will never be put to shamewhen they speak with their enemies at the city gate.

I will clothe his enemies with shame,but the crown he wears will be glorious.”
