'Shame' in the Bible
As it is written:Look! I am putting a stone in Zion to stumble overand a rock to trip over, yet the one who believes on Himwill not be put to shame.
Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,
Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
I’m not writing this to shame you, but to warn you as my dear children.
I say this to your shame! Can it be that there is not one wise person among you who is able to arbitrate between his brothers?
Come to your senses and stop sinning, for some people are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.
I say this to our shame: We have been weak. But in whatever anyone dares to boast—I am talking foolishly—I also dare:
Their end is destruction; their god is their stomach; their glory is in their shame. They are focused on earthly things,
keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.
For it is contained in Scripture:Look! I lay a stone in Zion,a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in Himwill never be put to shame!
However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame.
“Look, I am coming like a thief. The one who is alert and remains clothed so that he may not go around naked and people see his shame is blessed.”
