'Tendrils' in the Bible
Binding his donkey to the vine and his mare's foal to its thick tendrils, he will wash his garments in wine and his robe in the juice of grapes.
For the fields of Heshbon have withered, the vines of Sibmah as well; The lords of the nations have trampled down its choice clustersWhich reached as far as Jazer and wandered to the deserts; Its tendrils spread themselves out and passed over the sea.
For before the harvest, when the bud has sprouted, and the ripening fruit appears, he will cut off the unproductive shoots with pruning knives; he will prune the tendrils.
“Go up through the rows of Jerusalem’s vineyards and destroy [them],But do not completely destroy everything.Strip away her branches and the tendrils [of her vines],For they are not the Lord’s.
Thus says the Lord of hosts,“They will thoroughly gather like [fruit on] a vine what is left of Israel;Pass your hand [over the vine] again and again [Babylon, tool of destruction] like a grape gatherer,Over the branches [stripping the tendrils off the vine].”
I will weep for you, vine of Sibmah, with more than the weeping for Jazer.Your tendrils have extended to the sea;they have reached to the sea and to Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your summer fruit and grape harvest.
