'Thoughts' in the Bible
Now immediately, when Jesus realized in his spirit that they were contemplating such thoughts, he said to them, "Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?
Indeed, as a result of him the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed -- and a sword will pierce your own soul as well!"
When Jesus perceived their hostile thoughts, he said to them, "Why are you raising objections within yourselves?
But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, "Get up and stand here." So he rose and stood there.
But when Jesus discerned their innermost thoughts, he took a child, had him stand by his side,
But Jesus, realizing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed, and a divided household falls.
For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but they became futile in their thoughts and their senseless hearts were darkened.
They show that the work of the law is written in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend them,
And again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.
