'Understanding' in the Bible
Do not be like a horse [or] like a mule, without understanding; [that needs] his tackle--bridle and rein--for restraint [or he would not] come near you.
For God [is] king of all the earth. Sing praises with understanding.
My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart [will be] understanding.
The fear of Yahweh [is the] beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.
